About Andrew Elsbury
Andrew Elsbury is a Liberal Party Member for Western Metropolitan Region in the Victorian Legislative Council. Andrew was elected at the 2010 Victorian State Election which also saw victory for the Liberal National Coalition and enabled them to form Government.
Andrew is passionate about the Western Suburbs with its culturally diverse neighborhoods, lively retail hubs, strong and established industrial estates and picturesque beaches, parks and waterways.
Andrew is a member of the Joint Parliamentary Road Safety Committee and the Legislative Council Environment and Planning References and Legislative Committees. Andrew is also a member of the following back bench committees: Planning; Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship; Public Transport and Roads; Gaming, Consumer Affairs and Energy and Recourses; Technology and the Aviation Industry and Environment, Climate Change and Youth Affairs. Andrew is also the Co-Chair of the Parliamentary Friend of Malta.
Andrew was born in Footscray, raised in Hoppers Crossing and after a few years in Altona, Andrew and wife Belinda settled in Tarneit where they live with their two daughters.
Andrew has a strong sense of community and is heavily involved in the Tarneit North Residents’ Association working on events like Clean up Australia Day, National Tree Day and the annual Christmas Carol celebrations. Andrew also served as the Chair of the Vision for Werribee Plains Committee
Andrew’s broader community involvement has included supporting the Leukaemia Foundation’s Worlds Greatest Shave and Light the Night events, assisting with the BlazeAid bushfire recovery in March 2009 and being a blood donor.
Andrew has worked closely with all levels of Government, gaining broad policy experience and a grasp of how to get results. Andrew has also worked for a senior Victorian Senator.
The experience Andrew has gained through his work and community connections, along with his drive to see the Western Suburbs prosper, make Andrew a well versed and tenacious advocate for the needs of Melbourne’s West.
Andrew believes the Labor Party takes the West for granted and has failed to deliver for his community.
As someone who is from the West and for the West, Andrew is committed to working hard for his community.
